I am Bionca Taylor-Miller, the founder of Akoben Counseling & Consulting and a Clinical Therapist specializing in the healing of trauma. I received my Master of Art in Counseling from Central Michigan University. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of challenges. I specializes in the healing of various forms of trauma; including childhood abuse/neglect, domestic violence, generational trauma, traumatic experiences/events, and racial trauma.
I am Unapologetically African, meaning I have reclaimed my African heritage and take pride in my Africaness. As a Yoruba Practitioner, I understand the difficulties that we can face when we make a decision to define our own worldview and embrace cultural and spiritual roots that empower you. I have a very nurturing and caring spirit which allows me to connect with others. I work to make our interactions as natural as possible, as if you were talking with your favorite Aunt. I’ll welcome you with my peaceful spirit and hold space for you, but also hold you accountable and challenge you to push yourself forward in whatever way that looks like for you.
