Supervision Training and Experience

I have completed a 30-hour Advanced Supervisor Training Program from the Mentoring Institute. I have experience working as a Clinical Supervisor at Specialized Residential Facilities, treating adults with severe and persistent mental health disorders. In this role I have provided supervision for Master level mental health clinicians as well as Bachelor level Mental health technicians. Additionally, I have worked as a Program Manager in programs serving runaway youth or youth in out of home placement, supervising Bachelor level providers.

Approach to Supervision

I utilize a developmental approach to supervision. I understand that as you advance in your counseling career, your needs and preferences in supervision will change. I believe that my role as a supervisor is to not evaluate your competency to become a fully licensed counselor, but also to encourage professional and personal growth as it relates to your career goals. Supervision is conducted via individual or group sessions, tape review/live observation of sessions are optional and dependent upon client consent.

Goals of Supervision:

· Develop a career path and professional identity.

· Exhibit an understanding of evaluation, assessment, and theoretical orientation of counseling and use this information to conceptualize cases and develop treatment.

· Engage in ethical decision making, demonstrate an understanding of the ACA Code of Ethics.

· Exhibit self-awareness and engage in supportive measures to eliminate the impact of countertransference.

· To cope with the presence of anxiety in your professional identity.

Evaluation procedures

To evaluate Clinical competency several methods are used including the successful completion of mutually agreed upon goals based on the developmental stage of the clinical career; outlining and evaluation of the goals will take place through discussion. Self-assessment tools can also be used to support the completion of developed goals and objectives. Documentation review will also take place to assess strengths and barriers in maintaining Clinical Documentation standards.

Confidentiality

All information shared with me in the context of clinical supervision is held in strict confidence with the following exceptions:

· If the supervisee exhibits signs of impairment

If the supervisee exhibits behaviors that are unethical and/or dangerous to the client
If I, as a supervisor, am court ordered to testify about the nature of a supervision relationship or of a client of the supervisee
If a client’s welfare is in danger and it is deemed the supervisee is unable to assist the client adequately
If a child, elderly person, or dependent person is being abused
If I, as a supervisor, seek supervision from another licensed mental health professional

Code of ethics

As a Supervisor and Professional Counselor, I adhere to the ACS Code of Ethics, ACA Code of Ethics, and NBCC Code of Ethics. You are responsible for adhering to the Code of Ethics applicable to your credentialing body.

Group Supervision $50/hour

Professional Consultation $100/hour

Tape/Documentation Review $25/15 minutes
